You absolutely need to grow up in virtual space in order to create this kind of visual stimulation. It may or may not be as cool in real life, but I really admire the kind of creative energy that's been put into this. Amazing ;)

Social media, is it friend or foe?

Everywhere I go, people keep talking about social media. Frankly, I'm getting quite sick of it. So, I'm gonna present a case to murder it. This Saturday is called Crazy.

I am undecided. For the first time (after yonkers) it finally feels like KL is waking up from her hibernation. There's such an awesome line-up of events this Saturday, I can feel her tentacles gripping me and I'm torn in deciding which one to be at.

Well, there's KL Design Week 2010 happening and if you're a fan of Japan's innovative design, you should be at the National Art Gallery for these exhibitions.

In conjunction with KLDW2010, there's also Pecha Kucha for KL which is as good as TED Talks to some ardent followers of the world's most innovative thinkers and creators - 20 images in 20 seconds. That's happening at CapSquare (urgh, I hate that place) from 8pm onwards.

And then, for those who have had a stressful weekend, you can laugh it off and out loud with two of Malaysia's funniest personalities - Joanne Kam and Jit Murad. Be warned, if you're gonna be uptight, then maybe you should hang out somewhere else. Happening in conjunction with PJ Laugh Fest, PJLA, Jaya One.

And then for those who have a bit more finesse and into all that jazz, there's the Miri Jazz Festival teaser show at The Apartment at KLCC, starting from 8.30pm.

And last but not least, I got an invitation from a dear friend to go for a talk organised by FGT on 'How to not date a Loser'. Er... okay... I think she's trying to send me a message...

Shucks, what to do what to do. Well, I'm definitely up for Pecha Kucha because you probably get only one chance to attend these sort of events in this remote part of the world. And definitely get a nostalgic and inspirational slice of Japan design media. Maybe, I'll pass that laugh for Actorlympics, and go to Miri instead for the real deal, and make a mental note to stop dating Losers. There. Decided.

Japan's hit and miss moments.

I'm comforted to know that, as accurate as Japan is, even they got hit and miss moments. For awhile, they seemed almost immortal-like. But good to know... they're not ;) We have hope...

Trust me, we aren't that far off then :) We just need to push further, challenge more, get hungrier, just. a. little. bit. more guys...

Good meeting and great opportunity.

Had a very good meeting with a potential client last week. It's amazing how sometimes when you decide to invest in something despite popular scepticism, the return comes back to you as long as you have faith and stick to it. Brilliant light bulb moments don't always happen, but endurance is what makes those who stick around in this industry, stick around. Guess it's about balance.

Am also in preparation for another pitch submission this week. How you'd approach a 'submission' pitch versus a one day live presentation is totally different. You know how sometimes when you look at the creative idea and you know, 'THAT'S IT'. I guess it's pretty much the same for a pitch document. You look at the strategy and you go 'THAT'S IT'. Without the presenter needing to say anything. For me, it's always a tougher challenge albeit a fairer one. That's because some planners are great presenters. They don't need to write anything to be able to sell the campaign. Well, haha, I don't think I'm one of them. So, without swaying the audience via charisma, we all depend on the black and white document which is to be submitted. So, it has to come out strong, clear and concise - within the stated amount of pages.

Well, a bit more and I'm done with the document. Gonna go back to work tomorrow to touch base with the creative team and this time... I'm totally feeling the pressure. It's hard to take a Toyota-stance in things. Always easier to be a challenger because you have nothing to lose. Well, what can I say... may God award the account to the best man for the job.
